Before You Begin

You'll need an RR Metrics account. If you don't have one yet, create a free account here — no credit card required. Once signed in, your dashboard is at rrmetrics.com/trades.

Step-by-Step: Logging a Trade

1

Open the Add Trade Form

On the Trades page, click the + New Trade button in the top-right corner. A form panel slides in from the right.

2

Fill In the Trade Details

Complete the required fields:

  • Ticker — The symbol you traded. Examples: NQ, ES, AAPL.
  • Entry Price / Exit Price OR Profit / Loss — Your average fill price on each side, OR your profit / loss on the trade. These are interchangeable.
  • Quantity — Number of contracts or shares. Use negative for short trades!
  • Entry Time / Exit Time — Date and time of each fill.

Optional fields:

  • Notes — Your trade rationale, what happened, or what you'd do differently.
  • Evaluation trade — Check this if the trade was taken on a funded evaluation account. Eval trades can be excluded from analytics separately.
  • Strategy Checklist — If you've set up strategy rules, check off which rules you followed on this trade.
  • Screenshot — Attach a chart image. Paste directly with Ctrl+V, choose a file, or annotate after pasting.
  • Tags — Attach labels like breakout or reversal to categorize the trade for filtering and analytics.
3

Save the Trade

Click Add Trade at the bottom of the form. The trade is added instantly and all dashboard metrics update to reflect it.

What You'll See After Saving

Once you have trades in your log, navigate to the Dashboard in the sidebar. You'll now see:

Next steps: Add more trades to build your history, then explore the Analytics page to see your win rate, time-of-day breakdown, and tag performance. If you trade through Tradovate, ProjectX (Topstep), or NinjaTrader, see the broker connection guides to enable auto-sync and skip manual entry entirely.
